George lathers his face in the open air, balancing his mirror and (OVH whisky) toby jug on the garden wall, shaving his chin with a cut-throat blade (0.50) Another man is making their porridge, adding plenty of salt; socks are hung to dry over the stove, while a third fries bacon; dropping a piece on the floor, he puts it back on the plate quickly, while no-one is looking (2.25) one distracted from the porridge, other man starts adding more salt (2.35) George starts up a conversation with two young women, one holding a lamb; the two inside come out to join in, and don't notice that a fire has started on the hob until smoke billows from the door; they run in (2.50) eating breakfast; the men suit themselves- one has a cat on his knee at the table, another uses his plate as an ashtray; the tallest accepts a letter at the door, George's wife writes that she is coming for a visit (3.40) the men tidy and hide dirty plates and beer bottles in a hurry, intercut with shot of G's wife advancing down the road towards the cottage (4.45)G's wife puts the men to work, one manages to get away to do some angling (5.46) George's other friend meets the angler on a walk and they discuss fish size; George helps his wife wind wool (6.20) the angler's hook becomes stuck in a sheep's fleece, angler runs after it (7.09) George's wife tells him off as he reads the paper; c/u George's side of the paper, picture of young woman in a swimming costume (7.35) George's friends conspire to remove his wife by tricking her into thinking her only bus leaves that day (9.15) Gorge sees his wife onto the bus; she discovers the mistake and heads back (9.20) men play cards; one lifts his head to look out of the window (9.30)
