Information from donor: This film mainly covers the final closure of the shipyard in July 1963, men leaving for the last time and the last launch in February 1964.
Following the closure the administrators / liquidators arranged for Stephens of Linthouse, Glasgow to complete the ship, No. 1504, that was being built speculatively. The vessel, eventually named 'Melbrook', after being launched was taken in tow up-river to Stephen's yard for completion. There is little left in the town as a reminder of Denny's presence other than the statue of Peter Denny and the 'East End Park' both of which are featured at the end of the film along with an artists impression of what might have become of the Denny Hovercraft had it been developed to its full potential. Film speed is 16fps.
