Notes from accompanying letter from Tom Clarke MP, 7 August 2008 - fire took place following a Senior Citizens' Christmas lunch; destroyed one of the finest organs in Europe; took place a few days after a Saturday Night Palais concert by the Bee Gees, who were number one in the UK charts at the time with 'Massachusetts'.
Film-maker HGF Rankin was a well-known dentist and amateur cinematographer.
