Material filmed by Alexander Gray, Paul Robello and William Walker in 1906. Sound version by Douglas Gray in 1956. Orig. nitrate found on premises of what used to be the Electric Cinema, later the Capitol. Edited sound version premiered in Capitol 1956. See 11/1/423.

Credits (.50) September 1906 and Aberdeen is decked out with celebration bunting to mark the 4th centenary of the University. Street traffic (2.01) Edward VII and Queen Alexandra are to open the new extension to Marischal College. Shots of procession from station to college in open carriage. They are received by the Chancellor, Lord Strathcona, and the Principal, Revd. Marshall Lang (4.01) Shots as the Principal gives his address and photographs of the quadrangle and platform party (4.37) after the ceremony the King and Queen ride back to the Town House where they are received by Lord and Lady Provost Lyon. Civic luncheon, the Lord Provost is knighted. Photographs of the new college buildings (6.50) shots of crowds and procession of 350 veterans of Crimea and India (7.36) procession through the streets led by motor car to the station and the royal train (9.56)
