Observations on life in the Glasgow School of Art.
Made by McConnell whilst a student at Glasgow School of Art 1955-1959, used to run Glasgow School of Art film club and in evenings showing classics of Soviet cinema etc. Had never seen the earlier film SEVEN TILL FIVE made by Norman McLaren (see ref. 1100). Used 70 DR, 3 turret lens camera. Dissolves achieved by winding camera back 25 frames at the end of the shot before. Did a bit "whenever he could and the daylight was good".

Jam session, students [Val Wilson, Una Watson and others] at steps of the canteen , Jim McGhee, playing banjo etc. Pottery class, silversmithing work, furnishings on display. [Col] Art School dance - band includes Andy Clarke, Jimmy Galloway [Sax] - possibly the Clyde Valley Stompers. Dancers in fancy dress (c.17.00)
