Description: Footage of a mobile milking shed in operation and shots of cattle being gelded and ringed.
Shotlist: Lorry passes, two boys in the back; man puts tension onto block and tackle, moves mobile milking shed up to stake. Gvs shed. Cattle are herded and penned; cows walk into stalls; gvs cows are milked; c/u milk filter? Man changes over milk tubing to new can. Cows leave through hatches. C/u milk cooling apparatus. Man drives away with milk cans. Cow tied to stake in field. Cow calving, licking calf; calf stands and suckles. Gvs gelding calves using clamp to crush blood vessels. Series c/u's gelding, usually cleaned calves by slitting sac, cutting vas, testes removed using tool which severs and clamps wound. Ringing calf's nose by piercing, then inserting ring, held together with screw. Ints. auction; exts. men in courtyard, cattle in pens, large building with windowed ridge on roof. Bull led by nose from snowy path to shed; feet hobbled, bull is pulled and pushed onto flank in hay. Men trim overgrown hooves; c/u bull's face during procedure. Bull led away.
