Shotlist: David Hill and Robert Adamson were the first in the world to realise the artistic potential of photography. This creative Scottish partnership of artist and scientist worked at a furious pace, producing more than 3,000 beautiful images – lit only by the sun – in just three years in the 1840’s. Their new art was avant garde, exciting and controversial – Victorian Edinburgh’s Shock of the New.
