Description: The first winner Of Lizar's Trophy, the film shows episodes in the life of Mr A L Cunningham's five year old daughter, Gladys.

First winner of Lizar's Trophy. Club library of films, club productions, individual members works and miscellaneous other titles. A folder describing the entire collection was deposited January 2002. Waverley Cine Club became Edinburgh Cine Society shortly after its foundation in the 1930's.

Shot of Mrs Cunningham with Gladys, then the new house. While there we had two additions to the family - first was 'Flirt' (shot of dog playing with a ball) ...second was a Cine-Kodak (2.30) Photograph of Gladys at one year old. Birthday card for 2nd birthday. Photograph of Gladys in a swimsuit on the beach. (2.42) Two & a half now Gladys plays on the beach with some older children. Gladys rides a Shetland pony. 3rd birthday card. Gladys climbs into her cot. (4.22) Three & a half, so further afield for holidays. Shot of Scarborough Corporation lift car. Shot of Norbreck Hotel. Gladys builds sandcastles on the beach, paddles and is dried off by her mother. (7.22) Here she had her first romance. Gladys rides a donkey beside a little boy of the same age. Gvs Gladys and her 'boyfriend' watching a Punch & Judy show. Gvs chopping hay on horseback which Gladys helps to stack. Gladys and her mother ride in a horse and carriage. Gvs Gladys on a farm with sheep and playing with a puppy dog (10.45) Birthday cake with four candles on it, which Gladys lights. Back home the little lady has a busy day. Gladys scrubs her doll's clothes in the garden and hangs them out to dry. Then she pretends to wash up dishes and iron her clothes. Pretending to be a nurse, she puts her doll to bed and administers castor oil. Gladys dresses up as a fairy and dances to a record. And so to school, to begin the second part in the important business of growing up. Gladys wears her school uniform. The End (15.58)
