Shotlist: "Traffic" "A Film About Colinton's Dreadful Problem" 1971* [Col] filmed in fine weather, scenes of traffic in various Colinton streets, Westgarth Avenue, the junction with Bridge Road, Bridge Road itself, up Gillespie Road into Hailes, down the steep hill to the Parish Church, up past Waddell's garage to the junction, turning left through the village, past the shops, and along to Redford Barracks showing the traffic density and the problem of trying to cross the road to the old steps at the old library (3.04) "The Belated Outer Ring Road Is The Cure". Scenes showing open country - presumably the site of the proposed bypass, Hunter's Tryst Inn - the road beside it very narrow. Then scenes of the village with minimal traffic (4.42) an extremely short piece showing a gymkhana, very little detail with mostly long distance photography (5.03) [b&w] filmed in fine weather. An older film of a gymkhana - mainly participant scenes. Various sideshows - darts - balloon bursting - 3 for 6d, close-up of two young boys, two Highland Dancers on a see-saw. Dog show and its prize-winners - much filmed inside a marquee - very dark photography. Two young boys in Gillsland Park School uniform, James Robb on the left (6.56) a sequence about Colinton bowling club, firstly outside the Kennedy Pavilion and then on the green - good close-ups of the members - possibly opening of the new season, including John Millar on left, village ironmonger Davy Waddell, Dod Mackenzie (7.48) OPENING OF THE NEW GATES, BONALY SCOUT CAMP - "Bonaly Camp, Edinburgh and Leith Boys Scouts. A Memorial Plate Will Be Unveiled Here On Saturday 24th May. The Camp Will Be Open To Visitors Until 6 pm" very dark photography but the unveiling of the plaque, possibly by Lord Rowallan, Chief Scout, and the opening of the gates can be seen along with some scenes inside the camp.
