"The Hap Dances" organised by owner (who is film-maker, Luciano Soave.) of the Haparanda Cafe, Dundee which opened in 1957 [now demolished]. It is understood that he named the cafe after visiting Haparanda in Sweden. A friend states that he "loved the place so much, that when he opened his cafe, he named it Haparanda". Between 1962 and 1965 about 20 dances held, usually with about 600 -800 people attending at a time. Over these years they were held in the Continental Ballroom, The Palais and the Chalet Road House, Broughty Ferry and would feature local bands and musicians, including "The Paladians", "Erle Blue Stars" and "Prohibition Pete".
