The funeral procession of Alexander Buist, proprietor of Ward Jute Mills, Dundee, one of the first mill owners to supply a creche and school for children of his mill workers.
He died Saturday 13th April 1901 at his home at Reresmount, Broughty Ferry. Obituary is available in the Dundee Year Book for 1901. The cortege would have wound its way from the station, so the photographer is missing the de-training.
The office of Ward Mills still stands as Friarfield House, Barrack Street, home of Social Work Criminal Justice Department. His firm became Don Brothers Buist and still exist in Forfar as Don & Low [see http://www.donlow.com, last accessed 03/05/2018].
