Filmmaker's synopsis:
It was in 1995. To mark the 50th anniversary of Victory Over japan Day, a Scottish Sunday paper, scotland on Sunday, carried an interview with two producers of japan desk scotland. One of them was quoted in the article as saying: “I feel guilty of what japan has done, even though I was not born when it happened.” A few months later, two of them were suddenly invited by Rev Bruce Keeble, Minister of Hillhead Baptist Church, Glasgow, to come forward during the morning service. He said to them and to the congregation: “I will forgive you in the name of Jesus Christ.” They knew that he was interned by the japanese armed forces in China during WWII, but those days he didn’t talk about his experience in any detail.
Twenty years later, in 2015, they visited him in Oxford and asked him about his wartime experience. And they asked him, “Why did you forgive us as part of the morning service on that day?”
