Shotlist: Filmmaker's synopsis:

In June 2014, Japan Desk Scotland visited the Philippines for the first time in twenty five years to meet with their Filipino friends, whom they met in the mid-1980s when they were reporting on Filipino affairs for Japanese media.

Karen Tañada, Executive Director of GZO Peace Institute, talked about peace in relation to justice, freedom, peaceful means to achieve peace, and remembering. Jojo Deles, a consultant on governance, talked about the role of governance for making peace, while Dan Sangco, President and CEO of Pinoy ME Foundation, talked about peace through inclusive prosperity by uplifting micro enterprises (ME).

In addition, Karen suggested them to meet with elderly Filipino men, whose fathers were massacred by Japanese soldiers in Batangas, in February/March 1945, and they went there to meet with Alex Maralit and Segundo Manalo Mea. The meeting was arranged by Chito Generoso, a peace activist.

Karen also took them to her lecture on peace-making for United Nations University of Peace in Manila, where they met Michiko Fukuda, a Masters student from Japan. Michiko talked about lessons she learned from former Filipino comfort women for Japanese soldiers during WWII.

The interviews were carried out in June 2014.
