Description:
A recording of Scottish Ballet performing Dangerous Liaisons at Tramway in Glasgow in the autumn of 2003. [The curtain call is silent]
'In head-on collision with Alston’s choreography, Simon Water’s music combines natural and electronic sounds. The dance follows the music very closely by picking up on the rhythmic signals in the sound. Dangerous Liaisons reflects the intensity, pace and urgency of the development of the music, focusing on the tautness and the rapid, repeated changes from one sound to another.' (STA SB 710/39)
'Dangerous Liaisons sets two brave trios of dancers on a mountaineering course of risky partnering and expertly missed collision. The six dancers ricochet off the cavernous echoes and dramatic shudders of Simon Waters’ soundworld. They claim their territory with heroic flourishes and carve a route sculpted by classical gesture. Abruptly, the six career off into another space and are gone.' (STA SB 710/37)
