Title: THAT CERTAIN FEELING / MACBETH / WILD LIFE 1

Reference number: 11259

Date: 1992, May 27

Sound: sound

Colour: col

Fiction: non-fiction

Running time: 161.41 mins

Description: A recording of That Certain Feeling, Macbeth and Wild Life 1, performed by Scottish Ballet at Tramway on 27 May 1992. This was performed by SB2, which was the smaller touring wing of the company.

The show is performed in front of an audience, but set changes are long and performed in full view. This triple bill was performed on 29 and 30 May 1992. The date on the video (27 May) may indicate this this was before the main run of the show.

That Certain Feeling: 'The delicious music of George Gershwin evokes the jazz era as the dancers perform to such classics as 'The Man I Love' and 'Fascinating Rhythm' . Acclaimed Russo-French choreographer Andre Prokovsky, who also created Vespri - one of The Scottish Ballet's most popular one act works - uses classical techniques as a springboard for this sassy interpretation'

Macbeth: 'Andre Prokovsky's second piece for The Scottish Ballet 2 uses ballet to re-examine the tragedy of Shakespeare's Macbeth. The principal character's neurotic relationship takes on a new dimension when told through the medium of movement. David Earl's dramatic piano score provides emphatic atmosphere.'

Wild Life 1: 'Ex-Phoenix Dance Company director, Neville Campbell, draws on his recent experiences in Zimbabwe to create this new piece about the beauty of nature. Neville Campbell was profoundly moved by his proximity to wild life on a game reserve and has used his feelings to inspire up-beat movement choreographed to the contemporary music of Rhythm Street.'
