A day in the life of a Scottish coalminer.
Entered in the Scottish Amateur Film Festival, 1953.
Shotlist: Credits (.21); A miner comes out of his house, walks to the bus stop and gets the bus to work. At the pit, Wester Auchengeich near Lenzie, the bus arrives and the miners clock on, get changed into their working clothes and walk towards the pit head. They put on their lamps (3.06); Shots of miners on surface and climbing the stairs to the cage. The cage is filled. Shots of the operator and winding mechanism as the cage descends (4.23); Soon after the miners go down, coal is reaching the surface - 1000 tons every day in this pit alone. Shots on surface and of pit head. General views of skips full of coal going up and down and of sorters weeding out the waste.
