Description: Holidaymakers setting out from Glasgow, and travelling by train and steamer down the coast to Rothesay and Ettrick Bay, includes phantom ride from tram in Sauchiehall street.

A horse and cart with two hampers is seen in the Jamaica Bridge sequence. Holidaymakers returning from Rothesay would send their luggage on ahead. This service cost about one shilling for the outward and return journey and the luggage invariably arrived before the people! The steamer fare from Glasgow to Rothesay was 2/6d return.

"Yachting at the Clyde Coast" sequence includes the yacht "Iolaire" (large white vessel with bunting) and the "Gail" (smaller vessel with black funnel). The yacht "Iolaire" was wrecked on the rocks at Stornoway harbour on 1st January 1919. 190 soldiers returning from the Great War were drowned. Small yachts with odd shaped sails were called "zulus".

See 11/1/404 for notes possibly relating to aeroplane on Rothesay Esplanade. The plane, built by local blacksmith A.B. Baird was seen by Sopwith who asked if he could sketch the design - he subsequently built the Sopwith Camel.
